Research Associate, Sculpture Fabricator #5869, 12-month, Non-tenure earning faculty position with a start date of August 2013.

Minimum Qualifications

Advanced degree in studio art practice or equivalent experience; extensive knowledge of contemporary art, and of sculptural materials and processes.
Preferred An MFA degree with experience in teaching and a portfolio of successful sculpture projects. Experience with CAD and other digital fabrication techniques. Strong communication skills are required and desire and ability to work as part of a research team with artists, faculty, staff and students, and other arts and industry professionals.
Duties The Sculpture Fabricator works collaboratively with visiting artists in residence at Graphicstudio to research and test materials and processes for the production of 3-D multiples. The Sculpture Fabricator must be able to translate artists’ ideas and provide leadership in all aspects of project management and must possess a broad knowledge of sculptural materials and processes. The Sculpture Fabricator will have some teaching responsibilities including providing independent study opportunities and offering workshops on materials and processes and will be asked to give public presentations on research initiatives. The Sculpture Fabricator will also be responsible for maintenance of tools and
equipment in sculpture shop.
